A Simple Direction
Next Steps for Simply Scripture
Have you ever floundered with your phase of life and wondered what God is calling you to? That’s me at the moment. Can I tell you about it?
I just got back from attending a women’s conference called Speak Up, hosted by Carol Kent. This was my first women’s conference that I attended specifically for authors, speakers, and leaders. (Usually, I’m on the other end, hosting and speaking at retreats.)
This was an infilling I desperately needed. I came away with an entirely new perspective and attitude towards Simply Scripture.
You see, for the last few months I have been strategizing, researching, attending virtual summits, and making my brain ache on how to steward Simply Scripture. Most of the options felt like a bad-used-car-salesman tactic.
None of the options fit me and none of them felt like a solid YES from God. It felt more like hamster-wheel-hustle on social media and required thousands of dollars to advertise.
Yuck. That is not what I envision Simply Scripture to be and I don’t think that is what He wants either.
I walked into the Speak Up conference not knowing if it was going to be a boss-babe gathering or not.
It wasn’t. It was everything but that.
I nestled into the weekend with over 500 women who love the Lord and want to equip women on their faith journey through podcasting, writing, and speaking. We were all eager learners and cheerleaders.
No competition.
No hidden agenda.
No stepping on someone else to climb up a social ladder.
We were simply a bunch of girlfriends who love Jesus.
This is rare.
What were my takeaways?
I don’t have to strive. I need to be obedient, do the next right thing, and go where He leads. He will take care of the rest.
From incredible speakers and deep-diving breakout sessions, the Lord so sweetly showed me that He’s in charge of what goes on with this ministry.
(Here’s to eating a big slice of humble pie. He topped it with a large dollop of surrender and sprinkled it with the awe and fear of who He is!)
My striving will only mess up something much bigger that He has planned.
What are His plans, you ask? I don’t know, but the connections that I made during Speak Up will have lasting impacts on the direction He has for me.
Please pray for me and for Simply Scripture as I step through the incredible doors He has opened.
Changes ahead!
In order to prepare for next steps, I will be changing a few things behind the paywall. Instead of two podcast episodes a week, I will be slowing the pace of our journey through the Psalms to one podcast episode a week. (If you are curious, in each 10-20 minute episode we read through one Psalm, talk about the deep stuff, and end with prayer. I also drop a link to a worship song that expands the topic.)
I will release a new weekly episode in Psalms at 6am on Monday mornings behind the paywall.
Also, I will be taking a break from live-video teaching until September. This will give folks time to digest the 30+ hours of video Bible teaching content that is already behind the paywall. (Verse by verse studies of James, Colossians, and Ephesians! PLUS you can print off the free downloadable PDF daily reading plans!)
(So hey, if you aren’t behind the paywall, why not? It’s a treasure trove of biblical content that is waiting for you to dive into!)
What’s next?
My word for 2026 is Be Still, and this year has felt anything but that. I’ve watched the sea billows roll for the last 10 months and it hasn’t stopped. Yet He is calling me to Himself and reminding me to stay anchored in Christ.
Over the next few months I will be focusing on deeper study, prayer, and a healthier lifestyle. I will be taking time on vacation, staycations, and keeping my calendar clear so my brain and heart can rest.
I’m going to stop striving and start waiting on the Lord and His timing. How about you? Feel free to hit reply and let me know what the rest of your summer is going to look like!

I'm so glad you had a good trip. Awesome to hear everyone was supportive of one another. That is rare and wonderful! I'm on a very tight disability income, so unfortunately I can't afford the membership but I read what is available to me. I love your writing. I am also in a season of waiting for God to tell me what to do. I just have to get out of my own way...out of His way!! I am praying for your discernment for your next step in this endeavor.🙏✝️🙌
